Roles within Events & Conferencing are amongst the most popular amongst graduates. The roles within this sector include production, event co-ordination and of course sales.
Firstly please note that starting off in a sales role within the Events & Conferencing industry should not be seen as a way into the production and running of events. As much as anything if you succeed in sales you will be earning too much money to consider the pay cut you would inevitably have to take.
What though does a career selling Events entail and what is the progression? Typically you will start off in Delegate Sales. This involves selling conference space to potential delegates for a conference. This is a very fast paced role and one that can earn you large commission cheques very quickly. Progression could be towards team leading and management or towards Supply side and Sponsorship Sales. It is in fact the Sponsorship area that most people target their progression.
